Structural Health
Monitoring for
Wind Turbines

Have a comprehensive fully integrated platform for the analysis of the structural condition of your onshore/offshore wind turbines with PRODDIA®W.

PRODDIA®W is specifically optimized for the wind energy industry and provides comprehensive structural health monitoring of critical components including blades, foundations and towers in new designs or existing wind turbines generators (WTG). PRODDIA®W captures and analyses data from different sensor technologies and generates vital information regarding the structural health of components to optimize maintenance activities. PRODDIA®W easily integrates with existing Condition Monitoring Systems to provide complete visibility of structural health alongside drivetrain components.

PRODDIA®W2020 Plus -Benefits-

SHM systems prove to be a high valuable solution in WTG. PRODDIA®W early stage damage detection and forecast of future structural condition will replace most of preventative maintenance, bringing:

Increase wind turbines availability – Relying in real material condition status instead of statistical failure history, PRODDIA®W presents higher efficiency than existing systems. Augmented accuracy increases WTG availability, by preventing long stops and minimizing failure effects.

Significant reduction in O&M expenditure – Save materials, labour and operational costs by reducing time of repair/maintenance, minimized inspection operations and sharp reduction of expensive unscheduled maintenance, especially in offshore structures.

Extended asset lifetime & reduced risks – by releasing real time status of structural critical components, PRODDIA®W allows extension of the useful wind turbine remaining lifetime, providing extra earnings and protecting high investments made.

Integration with O&M systems – PRODDIA®W structural health data can be easily accessed by existing condition monitoring systems, providing a complete view of system health and improving maintenance decisions.

PRODDIA®W2020 Plus -Highlights-

Improved analysis features – now much easier to re-run algorithms on captured data with adjusted parameters enabling more efficient what-if analyses and deeper insight into structural status.

Asset geolocation display – see your assets in map view with associated structural health status.

New Particle Swarm Optimization – improved damage detection methods using particle swarm technology, an efficient and robust SHM algorithm, based on model update techniques.

Improved data storage and handling– facilitates greater interoperability and improved support for ISO 13374 (Condition monitoring and diagnostics of machines).

Extended Web Services – enhancement of the PRODDIA web services layer improves performance and scalability and enables simpler integration with existing systems (e.g SCADA, Condition Monitoring Systems, Maintenance Planning, etc).

Features

Advanced diagnosis engine – diagnosis engine includes a multi-damage scenario that significantly extends the effective damage detection area. In today’s WTG, where composite blades are becoming even longer and lighter, thus subject to new engineering limits, damage detection is key to all O&M actions.

SHM in the maintenance loop – mobile version featuring augmented reality overlaying diagnosis results while performing maintenance operations. Project damage information on the real component, thus increasing the awareness on the structural issues, and supporting the operator to pinpoint damage with precision. This feature is especially important when working in remote conditions, with limited or no online access.

Web services integration – web services facilitate integration with external/third-party systems. Exchange Structural Health status with O&M planning tools, ERP platforms, SCADA control systems, etc.

Information extraction tools – A toolset of digital processing functions to enable in depth information extraction. This analytical module provides the expert the power to drill down into raw signals and perform data matching analysis.

Efficiently Manage Dispersed and Distant Assets – PRODDIA® W is installed under a flexible architecture enabling the coexistence of a distributed database and unlimited processing centers and workbenches. This flexibility allows an efficient monitoring and visualizing damage maps and prognosis information of a large number of moving and distant assets, scaling from wind farms, to wind turbines and components.

Damage Diagnostic & State Prognosis – PRODDIA® W diagnosis and prognosis are based on VS2® Core, a patented technology enabling high effective combination of model and experimental data for superior diagnosis and prognosis of structural status. PRODDIA® W detects and locates damaged components, evaluating damage severity and forecasting the future structural state.

DAQ (Data Acquisition Systems) and Sensor Network – PRODDIA® W is capable of using a very low number of sensors to achieve very high integral component status with an extremely high degree of reliability. Using mainly COTS (Commercial Off-The-Shelf) solutions PRODDIA® W works with a wide spectrum of sensor technologies and DAQ systems.
