Critical Materials S.A. was present at the AuxDefense 2018-1st World Conference on Advanced Materials for Defense,that took place at São Julião da Barra Fort, Lisbon, Portugal, on 3 and 4 September 2018. In this conference, Critical Materials S.A. presented two works: 1) “SHM TB30 – METHODOLOGY AND TOOLS FOR ASSESSING THE STRUCTURAL HEALTH AND LIFE EXTENSION OF LEGACY AIRCRAFT” and 2)“CHARACTERIZATION AND CONSTITUTIVE MODELLING OF CRUSHABLE FOAMS – APPLICATION TO HIGHLY DEMANDING THERMO-MECHANICAL LOADING CASES”. The first work reports results concerning the application of fatigue life evaluation techniques of aeronautical critical components, obtained under the project SHM TB30, developed by Critical Materials S.A, in consortium with the Portuguese Air Force (PoAF) and the Instituto Superior Técnico (IST). The second work proposes a constitutive modelling methodology for application on polymeric crushable foams loaded at high strain-rates, highlighting the application potential of these materials on the defence vertical.
